Enterprise Edition

The Enterprise Edition is not currently available, but when it is released, it will be our flagship product. It will be designed to be an extremely flexible, powerful, and easy to configure classified ads program that can also serve as a multi-purpose database program. You will be able to use it create your own classifieds sections or databases on the fly, to change configuration options for the program, and to perform program maintenance, all from a user-friendly, web-based interface. Manual editing of text files will be a thing of the past. This version will not be available until September 1999, but if you purchase the Commerce Edition now, you will be able to upgrade to the Enterprise Edition for only $199. In addition to all of the features of the Commerce Edition, it will include the following additional features:

• A new program that will allow the admin to create and modify classifieds sections or databases on the fly. You will be able to change database fields directly from a web interface, without any programming or manual editing of text files.
• Lots of other new configuration options and minor enhancements.

• A new configuration utility that allows the admin to change global configuration options from a web-based interface.
• A new program that allows the admin to purge old entries from the user registration file. This can also be set to run automatically at periodic intervals if your web server has this capability.
• A new web-based administrative program that allows you to perform system maintenance, such as purging old registration entries, sending out notices to users whose ads are about to expire, purging old ads, running the Auto-Notify program, viewing a log of all user activities, clearing this log, and clearing all ads and resetting the counter.
• Ability to limit the number of ads posted by each registered user.
• Ability to collect names and e-mail addresses from users who agree to this by checking a box on the form for posting an ad. This can be used for a mailing list or newsletter.
• Ability to optionally store credit card numbers in an encrypted format on the server (although this is not really recommended), and then decrypt them on the fly for view by the administrator.
• Option of adding a "category" drop-down menu next to the "See All Ads" button on the Search page.
• Ability to account for time differences between the server location and the time zone of the intended audience.
• Our exclusive new SpamGuard technology, which allows you to block spammers from posting their company name, telephone number, or e-mail address in the ads through a strengthened "bad words" blocking feature. This also includes a beefed-up IP blocking feature that can block posters based on partial or full IP addresses.
• Ability to optionally "screen" the ads by preventing new ads from being viewable until the admin has approved them from a special form. They can also be deleted from this form.
• An improved Personal Inbox feature that can now function as a secure, private messaging system. Unlike the e-mail hiding schemes used by low-end programs, the Personal Inbox will protect not only the e-mail address of the person who posted the ad, but also the identity of the person who responds to the ad. That way, neither the person who posted the ad nor the person replying to the ad has to reveal his or her e-mail address or other contact information until they feel comfortable in doing so. All messages are handled by the server so that neither party's e-mail address is revealed.
