Set for launch in the Spring of 2003, the e-Classifieds Database Edition will be our new flagship product, and it will also be the first in our new line of hosted applications. It will add support for using a MySQL back end database, which can scale into the millions of records. The Database Edition will continue to support our highly scalable and highly refined existing internal database structure as well. It will also allow you to seamlessly convert your databases back and forth between the MySQL and legacy proprietary formats as necessary.

The Database Edition will contain the following improvements over the Premium Edition (please note that many of these items are not yet contained in the online demo):

• MySQL database support
• Conversion utility to convert databases between MySQL format and our legacy proprietary format
• New layout template
• Ability to modify all database fields and subcategories through an online interface
• Improved mapping feature that will support mapping in 14 countries
• Improved popup calendars in the Power Search forms
• Ability to search on multiple items in an individual field on the Power Search form
• Ability to define the size for all select menus and "select multiple" menus on the Power Search form
• More comprehensive e-mail notices for the admin (including all ad data in new ad notices)
• Shorter URLs for the Personal Inbox system messages

Of course, the Database Edition also contains all of the exclusive technology and features found in our Premium Edition. Most of these features are not available in any other classifieds program on the market. As always, all of this technology is packaged in a beautifully styled interface that's also intuitive and easy-to-use.

Registered owners of the existing versions of e-Classifieds will be able to upgrade to the Database Edition at a discount, which will be based upon the version of e-Classifieds that they have already licensed and the date of purchase of the original license. As stated above, the Database Edition allows you to easily convert your ads, Auto-Notify profiles, user registrations, and payments database from the existing format for the Premium Edition to the MySQL format using an online wizard.

The Database Edition will be available only as a hosted program, which provides a number of advantages for you. For example, since it includes free and instantaneous installation, you can have your new classifieds section up and running within minutes of your order, and you can avoid the hassle of installing software. The included free installation also means that your upfront costs for the Database Edition may actually be lower than those for the Premium Edition. It also includes free tech support for as long as you use the program. It ensures that all of the necessary modules will be in place for sophisticated functions such as credit card processing. You don't need to have any particular type of web server, operating system, or cgi-bin access. In fact, you don't even need a web server or web hosting account at all, which may save you substantial money in web hosting fees. You also avoid dealing with web server permissions and incompetent web hosting companies, and you don't need to have any technical skills or technical staff on hand to operate and maintain the program.

The Database Edition is currently in Beta. We invite you to try the online demo (please note that many of the planned features are not yet included in this demo, and it also has bugs that have been fixed in the current development version).
