On December 30, 2011, we released version 1.7.2 of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition. This new version includes a number of new features and significant enhancements, including the following:

• Improved the process for paying via third party processors to be more seamless to the user and for this option to be available for more payment situations within the program

User Interface and Layout

• New, modernized layout featuring a wider display, new CSS3 enhancements for modern browsers, the ability to display subcategory links underneath the categories on the front page, and much more.
• Many forms and pages within the program have been modernized and improved
• Many user interface enhancements that take advantage of CSS3, such as blue outlines for various form elements when they are focused, and other visual feedback for hover and focus events.
• New logon form widget for the sidebar
• Support for pretty date formats so that dates can be formatted as e.g. 21st Jan 2010, and to add support for X min ago, X hours ago, etc.
• Improved appearance of the action bar on the full size ads display.
• Frontpage sections can now be ordered vertically instead of horizontally.

• The edit ads page uses tabs to make the form much shorter.

• The program now optionally supports the display of SSL certificate issuing authority trust logos.

• The program now has the option to use a null-envelope return path for e-mails sent out by the program so that bounces from invalid user e-mails aren't sent to the admin.

• The advanced search form can now include zip code radius searching.

Social Networking

• The program now supports social bookmarking buttons in templates, as well as social bookmarks and custom actions on the full sized ad results pages.

Banner Ad Module

• We have completely overhauled the banner ad module with support for targeting (displaying ads only in specific sections), weighting (some banners can be set to display more often than others), and zoning (support for placing a banner in a group so that in the template you can use certain groups in certain locations only). The new banner ad module also supports pay per view pricing, as well as options such as automatically flipping the protocol from http:// to https:// if page is requested via HTTPS so as to avoid "Some items on the page are not secure" type errors that cause the bluebar/padlock to show errors on the page.

Admin Features

On September 24, 2008, we released version 1.3.4 of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition. This new version includes a number of new features, including additional statistics in the admin area, attention getters in the ads, and an improved My Checklist feature with new AJAX style popup notifications. It also includes optional pre-defined subject lines for "reply to ad" links, SEO friendly short URLs for directly logging onto the program, category copy, and a suspend ads option. The pricing plans feature has been substantially improved with new custom pricing plans for each section, as well as the ability to create unique user/section and group/section pricing plans. The admin can also set the priority for each pricing plan in order to determine whether the pricing plan for this particular user, group, section, user/section, or group/section should take priority. Keyword searches now remove stopwords ("a", "the", "this", and other very commonly used words) to improve accuracy and performance (this does not apply to phrases, which can be entered by enclosing them in double quotation marks). The admin also now has the option to have the program list and link directly to the subcategories underneath the sections on the front page so that the user doesn't have to click into a section to see its subcategories. On June 24, 2008, we released version 1.3.3 of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition. This new version includes a number of new features, including built-in support for Google AdSense through a number of point-and-click settings in the administrative control panel, an improved front page layout, and a dynamic word counter that display the number of words that the user has currently entered while posting their ad. The program also includes Dynamic Extra Pages that can be created for legal notices, privacy policy pages, contact us pages, about us pages, pricing schemes, special promotional offers, or anything else that the admin wants. This version also includes a new ad highlighting option that allows the admin to charge users extra who want their ad to be highlighted in a custom color, such as yellow. This version also includes new front page widgets for the categories and Google AdSense ads. A new WYSIWYG editor allows you to drag and drop elements for the main page widgets layout. The admin area has also been freshened and re-organized. The new Search For A User option allows the admin to search for users based on a number of criteria, such as name, location, e-mail address, and more. The new Switch User feature allows the admin to log in as any other user without having to know their password, which can be helpful in seeing things as the user would see them. As of April 19, 2008, we are pleased to announce the release of version 1.3.2 of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition. This new version includes a number of new features, including the ability to set up different user groups and pricing plans. This allows you to, for example, set up a different pricing plan for businesses or dealers versus a pricing plan for individuals. You can set the pricing for many different types of options in each pricing plan, such as the pricing for posting ads of different durations, discounts for multiple ads, by the number of words, for adding a map, for registering, for creating an auto-notify profile, for ad renewals, for viewing ads, for replying to ads, and for multimedia uploads. You can even include minimum extra visibility options and/or priority ranking, as well as making all ads within a certain pricing plan be featured ads. You can also give a certain amount of startup credits on the system with certain pricing plans. This new version also includes user customizable front page widgets using AJAX technology. Users can move these widgets around on the page and even close them if desired. The admin also gets additional options for styling the front page sidebars, widgets, and category columns. The Corporate Edition also now allows you to age restrict certain categories if desired. Enhanced SEO capabilities include linking to all of the categories and subcategories as regular HTML pages, as well as linking to the ads as regular HTML pages. The links to the ads can now use the subject of the ad as part of the link name, which helps users who are looking for certain items find your ads in the search engines. The template editor has also received a number of usability tweaks. Our unique new template caching feature speeds up page loading and automatically recompiles the template if its timestamp has been updated. This version also includes a refine search feature that recalls previous search terms. Searching and displaying ads has also been improved by our natural language sorting algorithm. Corporate Edition 1.3.1 released

As of January 16, 2008, we are pleased to announce the newest release of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition, version 1.3.1. This new version includes several new features, such as a new promo codes/coupons/discount codes feature that allows the administrator to set up special promotional codes (also known as "coupons" or "discount codes"), which users can then enter when posting their ads in order to receive a discount. This version also adds an import/export tool (also known as a bulk uploader and downloader) that allows the admin to import or export both ads and/or users. Data can be imported or exported in various formats such as CSV or pipe delimited, and the tool includes various other options such as a "dry run" option in order to test an import and ensure data integrity before altering live data. Imported data can either be appended to the existing data or fully overwrite the existing data. You can also now set up sub-admins (also known as "editors", "junior admins", or "multi-admin") with limited rights to perform specific administrative tasks, such as approving new ads, approving new multimedia uploads, approving new users, editing ads, and more. Many other changes have been made "under the hood" to improve usability, reduce the number of steps that users and admins need to take to perform common tasks, provide more information to users and the admin, improve the speed and efficiency of the code, and prepare the system for future enhancements that we will be making available in the coming months. Corporate Edition 1.3 released

As of November 2, 2007, we are pleased to announce the newest release of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition, version 1.3. This new version includes dozens of new and improved features, such as an improved CAPTCHA (image verification) system that includes a new reload option, as well as many other new options for colors, fonts, effects, and more. The new CAPTCHA system is also much faster than the old system, and it has been added to various additional forms throughout the program, such as the contact admin form, reply to ad form, and tell a friend form. The program also has a new logon form that looks much nicer, as well as an improved registration form that includes a visual password strength indicator to help users in selecting more secure passwords. The new user registration form also includes suggestions for alternate usernames if the username requested by the user is already taken, and there is a new option for automatically logging in users after registering. Benchmarking has also been improved with a new variable to turn on or off benchmarking and a new high resolution benchmarking option with precision down to the millisecond. Search engine optimization also received much attention in this release, with the inclusion of search engine friendly short URLs for ads without the question mark, search engine nofollow attributes on certain links (which boosts your site's search engine ranking by helping search engines to focus on the important links to content such as ads), and Google sitemaps support. In fact, the program will automatically create a Google sitemap for your classified ads site that you can quickly and easily submit to Google for indexing and improved searching, which may help your page rank as well. Improvements to the administrative area include an admin event log, an updated version info display on the main admin page, a new changelog that shows all of the new features and improvements for each version, new time zone settings for all time zones around the world, new date formatting options that allow you to choose from various date and time displays, links back to the main admin page from various admin forms and pages, and changes to the fee variables admin area to enforce the usage of secure connections when using any payment processor other than "manual" to ensure that the program conforms to PCI-DSS compliance regulations on credit card security. The template editor was improved with new template variables, as well as beta support for accessing internal program variables in the template editor. The front page has been made more flexible and configurable with new options that allow the admin to specify how many listings are displayed on the front page for the "Featured Ads", "Recently Viewed Ads", "Most Popular Ads" and "Latest Ads" columns. The admin can also specify the number of characters that are displayed in each record for the "Featured Ads", "Recently Viewed Ads", "Most Popular Ads" and "Latest Ads" displays. The database fields for the automobiles category have been updated with many new options to reflect the latest in automotive technology. Accesskeys have been added for improved accessibility and navigation. Many other improvements have been made as well, such as a new web based contact form option for the contact admin options, various code efficiency improvements, the addition of the IP address and hostname to "forgot password" e-mails, an improved Personal Inbox display when there are no messages, the option to disable the ad rating system, improved error handling, error messages that are more descriptive, and a new mail IP header option. Corporate Edition 1.2 released

As of June 13, 2007, we are pleased to announce the newest release of the e-Classifieds Corporate Edition, version 1.2. This new version includes dozens of new and improved features, such as an online mail template editor that allows you to easily change the text, formatting, and language(s) of all e-mail messages sent out by the program. You can even include images in your mail and/or have the program send out HTML mail messages. As a security measure, the program also checks any e-mail address that is entered when posting or replying to ads to ensure that it is a valid e-mail address whose server is currently accepting mail for that address, in order to avoid the usage of bogus e-mail addresses. Multimedia has seen great improvements as well, such as the ability to create real thumbnails for every image that a user uploads to his or her ad. These thumbnails are then displayed in the headlines view of the ads, instead of just using HTML to shrink down the full size images, which wasted bandwidth and slowed down page loading times. The program also automatically resizes uploaded images if they are too big, instead of just telling the user that their photo is too big and needs to be shrunken, since many users may be confused by this and incapable of shrinking the images themselves. The admin can define the allowed multimedia types, such as .mp3, .ra, or any other format. Users can now upload multimedia files directly from the post ad form, and the admin can specify how many files a user can upload at a time. The program uses database caching for the ultimate in performance, and it uses mod_rewrite to display ads and other pages as regular HTML pages instead of PHP or CGI for better search engine indexing. Instant access to the application now included with all on-demand versions of e-Classifieds

As of August 15, 2006, we are pleased to announce our new "csites" (Customer Sites) feature, which allows us to offer instant access to your on-demand e-Classifieds application immediately as soon as your account is created. This is true even for customers who are registering or transferring a domain name to be used for their classified ads site, as the system initially installs the application on a custom subdomain that allows the customer to access the application immediately. Once the domain has been registered or transferred, the customer can then access the same application using that domain name, and the application will automatically recognize this and adjust accordingly, so that e-mails, RSS feeds, or other messages and displays that are created by the application will automatically update themselves to reference the customer's domain name instead of the csite. This transition is handled automatically and seamlessly by the application, so that no configuration changes or other input of any kind by the customer is necessary. You simply point your web browser to your new domain name once it is live, and the system takes care of the rest. All data and other system settings are maintained by the system as well during this transition. The primary advantage of this new system is that it allows all customers, including those who are registering or transferring a domain name to be used for their classified ads site, to have instant access to the application as soon as their account is created, so that they can begin working with the software, familiarizing themselves with it, populating it with data, and even customizing it while they wait for the domain registration or transfer to be completed.
